Jay Scott’s music has hints of southern
rock but is really more a fusion of genres like folk,
rock and jazz with gritty, heartfelt vocals along the
lines of Joe Cocker or Bruce Springsteen. He has
performed from Manhattan to East Hampton to California
since 2000 at venues from small coffee house to major
theaters, clubs and festivals.
Jay’s unique voice and acoustic guitar
sound combine with his lyrics and their passionate
delivery on his most recent release, Life
in a Hurry, a 5-song EP follow up
to his 2008 Live album, Homegrown.
Both albums are on Long Island based Paradiddle
Records. Life in a Hurry includes four new studio
recordings – three of Scott’s own compositions tell of
one man’s life juggling home, family and career, a Life
in a Hurry people can really identify with in these
times. A fourth studio track is Jay Scott Band's
unique interpretation of the Bob Dylan classic “Knockin’
on Heaven’s Door” that stands on its own as a Jay Scott
song. The final “bonus track” is an excerpt from a
live interview/performance with Bonnie Grice on 88.3 FM,
Long Island’s National Public Radio (NPR) station.
Jay has been recording the follow up to Life in a
Hurry at Paradiddle Studios in Huntington and Suffolk
Recoding in Patchogue, with a scheduled release by
summer 2012.
Jay performs Live acoustic, or with his band of Dan Bolze on Bass, Bill Herman on drums, Jeff Pearlman on keyboards and Sean Virag on lead guitar, who also plays lead at Jay's acoustic gigs. For booking information e-mail JayScottLive@optonline.net.

From Le Cri du Coyote magazine in France Jay Scott : HomegrownA voice a little like Jimmy LaFave, more rugged and powerful, Jay oscillates betwenn 60's R & B, soul ballads (Sometimes) and mellow American pop Rock (Moment in Time, Lullaby, Good Fight, Giovanni). It is very nice to listen to in tranquil moments. It's not like Lightning and Thunder that rocks more.
